Police probe shooting involving officers on freeway ramp

Authorities are investigating a traffic stop involving police that ended in gunshots on an interstate ramp outside Atlanta.

Conyers police tell WAGA-TV that the shooting happened on Interstate 20 in the Lithonia area, just east of Atlanta. They say an officer and a deputy involved were not seriously injured in the gunfire late Tuesday morning.

Video from a WSB-TV helicopter showed several police officers surrounding a black car on the ramp, its driver-side door open with some items scattered on the pavement.

Few other details were immediately available. No information about any suspects or officers involved was released.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is among agencies probing the circumstances of the gunfire.
