Police: Maine crash victims' home burglarized just hours after fatal accident

Published May 03, 2016

Associated Press

Police are investigating a burglary at the home of a woman who had died hours earlier in a fatal accident on a northern Maine highway.

Madawaska Chief Carroll Theriault says the Madawaska home of Robert and Kim Lausier was robbed just hours after Monday's crash. Kim Lausier, who was pregnant, was one of four people who died in the crash on Route 161 in Stockholm. Robert Lausier survived. Three people in another vehicle, including a 2-year-old child, also died.

The chief said someone pried open the Lausiers' front door and stole medical marijuana for which Robert Lausier had a prescription.

The chief says he has a suspect, but did not immediately release a name.

It's unclear if the burglary was connected to the crash.

Madawaska is on the Canadian border.
