Police confirm bags found under house held infant remains

Published April 20, 2016

The medical examiner's office in North Carolina has confirmed that trash bags found under a home last weekend contained the remains of two infants.

Smithfield police released a statement Wednesday that they are looking for 40-year-old Bridgette Morgan Smith as a person of interest in the case. A search warrant identified her as the daughter of Pamela McBride, who lives in the home with her son and his fiancee.

A search warrant said that when McBride's son went under the house last Saturday to run some cable in the crawl space, he found three plastic trash bags. When he opened the bags, the warrant says, he recognized the contents as remains.

The remains were wrapped in towels. They were sent to the medical examiner's office in Raleigh for testing.
