Four small boys taken from a Denver apartment because of uninhabitable conditions were so malnourished and abused that they could only communicate in grunts. That's according to an arrest affidavit released Monday.
The boys' parents were charged with multiple counts of abuse. The affidavit says authorities found the children living in a residence full of cat and human feces, urine, and flies.
The Denver Post reports that 66-year-old Wayne Sperling and 35-year-old Lorinda Bailey have each been charged with four counts of felony child abuse (http://bit.ly/19bu68H).
The children are 2, 4, 5 and 6. The affidavit says the boys weren't toilet trained and had no schooling of any kind. Rather, they spoke in "their own language" of grunts to each other.
All four children have been placed in protective care.
