Plane crashes into Colorado house

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

A small plane towing an advertising banner has crashed into an unoccupied house north of Denver, setting the plane and the house on fire.

The pilot walked away with minor injuries.

Northglenn police spokesman Ron Haralson says the crash happened Monday afternoon in a residential area of the city.

He says the pilot got out of the cockpit and got into an ambulance for treatment while the plane and house burned. The fire was quickly brought under control.

Haralson says he does not know if there was a problem with the banner or the plane, but the plane was coming in low and released the banner a couple blocks away, apparently trying to avoid houses.

Details about the banner were not available.
