Person of Interest in Murders Barricades Himself With Gun at Chicago Hospital

A person of interest in a double murder allegedly fired shots at a Chicago veterans hospital and holed himself up in the facility, bringing police to the scene, WFLD-TV in Chicago reports.
Bobby Freeman, a clerk at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, said a man walked into the hospital about 1:20 a.m. and stood behind a patient waiting to be admitted.
The man reportedly asked where the bathroom was and told Freeman he wanted to see a doctor, the clerk said.
The man went into the restroom, came out and walked into the emergency room, where he fired a shot into the ceiling and pointed a gun to his head, according to Freeman.
“I’m not going to shoot, I just want some help," Freeman quoted the gunman as saying.
A law enforcement source said the man in question is 53-year-old Kermit Washington, the son of an elderly couple found murdered Tuesday night in their home. Washington is being called a “person of interest” in the killings, the source said.
Schwarz said both the SWAT Team and Washington have long-range weapons.
