Oklahoma couple appear in court after boy's disappearance

Published November 03, 2016

Associated Press

An Oklahoma couple arrested in connection with the disappearance of their 9-year-old nephew a decade ago have appeared before a judge, as authorities kept searching for a body.

Judge George Butner ordered Rex and Rebecca Clark to return to court next Tuesday. Prosecutors said during the hearing Tuesday they intend to release an affidavit, after some names are redacted. Authorities say the arrest warrants allege first-degree murder, but have not detailed why they reopened the case.

Defense lawyer Robert Butler said after the hearing he didn't object to the state holding the pair at this stage.

Authorities say Colton Clark, who was also the couple's foster son, is presumed dead. A search near their Seminole County home continued Tuesday. Sheriff's Investigator David Hanson wouldn't say whether anything pertinent was discovered.
