Ohio woman held captive a decade overcoming fears, says she likes reading Stephen King

Published May 03, 2016

A young woman held captive and tortured for more than a decade in a Cleveland home says she is conquering fears these days.

Thirty-three-year-old Michelle Knight says she likes to read Stephen King novels and plans to go skydiving. However, she's not sure she will watch an upcoming TV movie about the ordeals she and two other young women faced after being kidnapped by Ariel (AHR'-ee-el) Castro.

Knight says she doesn't want to put herself in a backward spiral. She says it's important to replace the bad in life with something good.

The Plain Dealer of Cleveland http://bit.ly/1bax6ar reports Knight spoke Saturday in a public discussion at the Cleveland Main Library.

Knight was kidnapped at age 21. The women escaped in May 2013 and Castro committed suicide in prison that September.
