Published February 19, 2016

Associated Press

Law enforcement officials say a juvenile deliberately ran over a deputy near Orlando, and authorities are still looking for the suspect.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings says the deputy deliberately run over by the 15-year-old boy has serious injuries to her head, back, hand and foot.

Pearce had an order to take the teen into custody on Friday morning. He ran over her as she approached a vehicle he was in. He then fled.

The sheriff says Pearce heard the car's engine revving up before she was hit. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities are seeking help from the public in locating the teen. Demings described him as dangerous. The teen has a previous arrest for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Pearce has been with the agency for more than two decades.

The sheriff's office says via Twitter that officials are keeping the injured deputy in their thoughts and prayers.
