NY's attorney general should probe Syracuse sex charges, Gloria Allred says

High-profile attorney Gloria Allred is asking New York's attorney general to investigate Syracuse University's handling of sex abuse allegations against an ex-assistant basketball coach.

Allred said Friday she believes Syracuse violated a federal law requiring universities to disclose information about campus crime. She's asking Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to investigate whether Syracuse violated the Clery Act.

Allred has represented clients including Nicole Brown Simpson's family during the O.J. Simpson murder trial. She now represents two men who say they were abused by former Syracuse assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine. Fine denies the allegations.

The men joined Allred at a Manhattan news conference. One says if Syracuse violated the Clery Act it should be held accountable.

A spokesman for Schneiderman hasn't returned a call seeking comment. Syracuse University hasn't commented.
