Nev. IHOP shooter feared demons were after him

Published November 17, 2014

Associated Press

New information from police says a northern Nevada gunman feared demons were after him in the months before his deadly rampage at a Carson City IHOP restaurant.

The Nevada Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/tH2qcp ) that 32-year-old Eduardo Sencion had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 1999.

His family tells authorities he avoided intimate relationships because he feared passing his illness to children.

Police say Sencion shot himself dead after killing four and wounding seven in the Sept. 6 shooting.

Boulder City police Chief Tom Finn says information about Sencion's mental health was presented Tuesday during a Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association meeting in Las Vegas.

Relatives also tell police that Sencion immersed himself in the Bible and said he heard voices telling him to do "bad things" to people.
