Navy petty officer admits secretly recording co-workers

Published February 27, 2016

Associated Press

A petty officer 3rd class assigned to the aircraft carrier Enterprise admits he secretly recorded seven co-workers in a restroom.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1XRD1nA ) reports that Ricardo Pilola agreed to a plea deal Friday at his sentencing at Norfolk Naval Station. As part of his pleading he will be confined two years, be reduced to a seaman recruit and be dishonorably discharged from the Navy.

Pilola was a watch commander on the Enterprise, but the recordings occurred on a barge where sailors were assigned as a work station while the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier undergoes defueling in Newport News.

Among the seven co-workers Pilola secretly recorded were his boss and two women he supervised.

The recordings happened between March 2013 and March 2014.
