The Navy is continuing to clean up about 94,000 gallons of jet fuel spilled at an air station in Virginia Beach.
The Navy says in a Friday press release that it has contained the fuel that leaked from a tank at Naval Air Station Oceana on Thursday and spread onto adjoining properties and waterways.
Crews have removed almost 20,000 gallons from areas outside the base. Crews have placed water booms on Wolfsnare Creek, and vacuum trucks and skimmers have joined the cleanup effort.
Experts have been called in to respond to reports of affected wildlife. Response teams are also monitoring water and air quality.
Cleanup efforts are expected to continue through the weekend.
