Published March 02, 2016

Associated Press

A man suspected of a monthlong Southern California crime spree that ended with police shooting him has been charged with dozens of crimes, including murder.

Artyom Gasparyan, 32, was charged Tuesday with some two dozen counts. He already faced assault and attempted murder charges in other cases. Gasparyan's been jailed since his January arrest following a freeway crash.

City News Service said he appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom Tuesday in a wheelchair. His arraignment was postponed.

Prosecutors said between Dec. 6 and Jan. 4, Gasparyan committed carjackings, armed robberies and shootings that wounded several people and left one man dead. The crimes occurred in Los Angeles and suburbs ranging from Long Beach to West Hollywood.

An alleged accomplice killed himself as police closed in.
