More testimony expected as judge resumes hearing in case of Detroit boy found in basement

A judge plans to hear more testimony in the case of a Detroit couple accused of torturing a boy through physical abuse, rigorous workouts and limited meals.

Charlie Bothuell V was missing for 11 days last June before authorities found him in his father and stepmother's basement during a highly publicized search. His father, Charlie Bothuell IV, and stepmother, Monique Dillard-Bothuell, are charged with child abuse and torture.

A doctor is expected to return to the witness chair when the hearing resumes on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bothuells deny the allegations and insist they didn't know the boy was in the basement. Defense lawyers claim the 13-year-old is lying.

Judge Shannon Holmes must decide whether there's probable cause to send the case to trial.
