Montana man gets 60 years for repeatedly raping girl

A 40-year-old Three Forks man who repeatedly had sex with a young girl and recorded his friend having sex with her has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports Robert Sapien was sentenced Monday by District Judge Mike Salvagni to two 60-year prison terms for sexual intercourse without consent and sexual abuse of children. The sentences are to run concurrently. Sapien also must successfully complete a sex offender treatment program before being eligible for parole.

Salvagni called Sapien's behavior morally depraved, disgusting and reprehensible and noted the girl submitted written testimony asking him to: "Keep this monster, madman away from" her.

Sapien's friend, Jason Jay Norris, remains jailed on $50,000 bail and is charged with sexual intercourse without consent.
