Mom's boyfriend faces felony child abuse charge in 8-year-old Las Vegas boy's suicide

Prosecutors say they'll pursue a felony child abuse charge in the case of an 8-year-old Las Vegas boy who died of suicide.

The Clark County District Attorney's office said Friday that a man who is the boyfriend of the child's mother will face a felony charge of child abuse, neglect or endangerment.

The boy was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head on Oct. 10. The death ruled a suicide marked one of the youngest suicides in county history.

The boy and his 5-year-old sister were left at home without adult supervision that day.

Prosecutors say the man had guns but didn't adequately secure them in the house, despite an incident two years ago where the boy accidentally fired the same handgun that he used in his death.
