Mo. teen pleads guilty in Ohio drifter's death

Published November 17, 2014

Associated Press

A Missouri teen accused of helping his parents and two siblings kill an Ohio drifter has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Jordan Harvey was 14 years old in December 2009 when 20-year-old James William Boyd McNeely was killed in the basement of his family's home in Laddonia, a small town northwest of St. Louis.

A kidnapping charge was dropped in exchange for his plea Tuesday in Audrain County Court. He was charged as an adult.

Prosecutors say Jordan Harvey helped hold McNeely down while his father, Chester Harvey, suffocated him.

Chester Harvey pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree murder and other charges and was given a life sentence. He has said he became embroiled in a drug plot with McNeely after falling on hard times. He says McNeely attacked his family.
