Published January 13, 2016

Associated Press

A man who arrived at his girlfriend's Ohio apartment as she and her two daughters were being stabbed to death says his only regret is not killing their attacker.

Columbus police say officers followed a trail of blood early Tuesday and found the suspect with multiple stab wounds that left him hospitalized in critical condition.

Police say the suspect is the woman's ex-boyfriend. They say the woman's current boyfriend, Curtis Miller, arrived during the attack.

Miller tells WBNS-TV (http://bit.ly/1J2SQF6 ) he kicked in the door and pursued the suspect after hearing one of the girls scream, "He's in here killing us!'" Miller says he regrets not killing the suspect.

The victims were identified as 32-year-old Erveena Hammonds, 10-year-old Anaesia Green and 7-year-old Breya Hammonds.
