Man gets 10 years for death of officer working DUI detail

A Maryland man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in the drunken-driving death of a police officer who was struck while working DUI enforcement.

Montgomery County State's Attorney's spokesman Ramon Korionoff says the sentence was handed down Thursday for 47-year-old Luis Reluzco, who pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter in the death of 24-year-old Officer Noah Leotta.

Police said on Dec. 3, Reluzco drank at a restaurant before hitting Leotta, who had stopped another vehicle while working on a drunken-driving task force. Leotta died a week later.

Leotta's death led to the passage of "Noah's Law," which requires a six-month license suspension or the six-month installation of ignition interlocks for anyone with a blood-alcohol content measuring more than .08.
