Published June 30, 2016

Authorities say a 17-year-old has been charged with killing his father, whose body was found at the victim's central New York home weeks after he was slain.

State police say troopers and Oneida County sheriff's deputies responded around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a suspicious situation at a home in the village of Holland Patent.

Police say they found in the backyard a body that has been tentatively identified as 52-year-old Steven Parker, who lived at the home. Police say he had been dead for about a month.

Parker's son, Austin, was pulled over by police in West Carthage, 55 miles northwest of Holland Patent. He was charged with second-degree murder.

The teen is being held in the county jail. Prosecutors didn't know if he has a lawyer.
