Man faces trial in triple slaying at Ohio barbershop

Published September 07, 2016

Associated Press

A Cleveland man charged in the slayings of three people at a suburban barbershop faces trial this week in the potential death penalty case.

Twenty-one-year-old Douglas Shine Jr. is charged with aggravated murder and other counts in the February 2015 barbershop slayings in Warrensville Heights. Three other people were wounded.

Shine also is accused in two other shootings that allegedly targeted one of the men who was later shot at the barbershop.

Shine has pleaded not guilty. His trial is scheduled to start Wednesday in Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County court.

Officials have said that Shine is part of the Heartless Felons gang and that the shooting was gang-related.

Shine had been released from prison in December 2014 after serving two years on robbery and weapons charges.
