A Connecticut man has been convicted of hiring a hit man to kill his pregnant girlfriend after she refused to have an abortion.

A jury in Hartford Superior Court found 23-year-old Carlton "C.J." Bryan guilty Thursday of conspiracy to commit murder and being an accessory to murder. He faces a potential life prison sentence. Sentencing is set for July 30.

Prosecutors say Bryan hired his friend Matthew Allen Hall-Davis to kill 21-year-old Shamari Jenkins, who was fatally shot in Hartford in April 2013. Prosecutor Donna Mambrino said Bryan became angry and orchestrated a plan to have Jenkins killed after his efforts to get her to have an abortion failed.

Hall-Davis was convicted of murder and weapons charges. He was sentenced to 70 years in prison earlier this month.
