Man charged with rape while free on bond

A Montana man is charged with raping a woman while free on bond awaiting sentencing for another rape.

The Missoulian newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1ZddLbK ) 33-year-old Lance Matthew Ring of Missoula was arrested May 24, while awaiting sentencing on his guilty plea to raping a 6-year-old girl last spring.

During his May 10 hearing on his plea in the girl's rape, prosecutors recommended a 10-year sentence, but the judge allowed Ring to remain free on a $100,000 bond pending his July 12 sentencing.

Ring was charged Tuesday with raping a woman. The same judge set Ring's bail at $400,000 and he remained jailed Wednesday.

His attorney in the first case said he wasn't representing Ring on the new charge and recommended that a public defender be appointed for him.
