Los Angeles County prosecutors have filed a murder charge against a man accused of fatally shooting a Pomona Police Department SWAT officer who was serving a search warrant.
The district attorney's office says 36-year-old David Martinez is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors say Officer Shaun Diamond was shot Tuesday morning in San Gabriel while taking part in a multi-agency operation focused on the Mongols motorcycle gang. The 15-year law enforcement veteran died early Wednesday.
The district attorney's office says Martinez is a suspected member of the Mongols. The complaint includes a special-circumstance allegation of murder of a police officer engaged in his duties.
Diamond was the fourth California law enforcement officer to die in the line of duty in less than a week.
