Maine man gets 7 years in prison for 9th drunken driving conviction

A Maine man has been sentenced to seven years behind bars for his ninth drunken driving conviction, a longer prison term than prosecutors sought.

Peter Dubord of Augusta was sentenced Wednesday by a judge who said he "represented significant danger to himself and others on the road" when he drove a motorcycle drunk in South China last September.

The Kennebec Journal (http://bit.ly/1GQcrQN ) reports that the 55-year-old Dubord was convicted in April of operating under the influence and operating while he was prohibited from driving with alcohol in his system.

Dubord was pulled over by police for driving 69 mph in a 40 mph zone. His blood alcohol content was measured at 0.19, more than twice the legal limit to drive.

Dubord apologized in court. His lawyer sought an 18-month sentence.
