Limo driver indicted in fatal crash that killed 4

Published March 16, 2016

Associated Press

A limousine driver making a U-turn in Long Island wine country when his car was hit by a pickup truck has been indicted on criminally negligent homicide in the death of four of his passengers.

Prosecutors say 58-year-old Carlos Pino will be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Central Islip. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

The limousine was leaving a winery in Cutchogue (kuht-CHAWG') when it was struck by the truck in July. Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says the limo driver's sight was blocked by a car that was turning in front of him. He says Pino is solely responsible for the crash.

The pickup truck driver, Steven Romeo, was charged with driving while intoxicated. His attorney didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
