Authorities are preparing to auction off Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger's belongings to raise money for his victims.

Some of Bulger's possessions will be sold to the highest bidders during a criminal forfeiture auction expected to be held over the next few months.

Any money raised will go to the families of people killed by Bulger. He was convicted in August of orchestrating or participating in 11 murders.

Approximately $822,000 in cash found hidden in the walls of Bulger's apartment will also go to victims.

A gold and diamond claddagh ring appraised at $48,000 is the most valuable item to be auctioned.

The 84-year-old Bulger fled Boston in 1994. He was captured in 2011 in Santa Monica, Calif., where he had been living with his longtime girlfriend.
