A Calumet City man has been charged with murder after his 1-year-old stepson died from burns allegedly caused by scalding hot bathwater.
Calumet City Police Chief Tom DiFiori tells WMAQ-TV in Chicago hat 30-year-old Gregory Miles was charged with first-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and endangering the life of a child.
Police responded about 12:30 a.m. Thursday to a report of an unresponsive infant. Officers found 1-year-old Noah Rudder lying on the living room floor and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
The Lake County coroner's office declared the boy dead at a Hammond, Indiana hospital at 1:55 a.m. He suffered burns to his body but no cause of death was given pending further review. DiFiori says the boy was allegedly burned by scalding water.
