The heavy rains and flooding that have ravaged Louisiana in recent days have left thousands homeless, prompting state and local officials to appeal to the public for help.
In addition to places where local residents can donate items, there are several ways people around the nation can help fund relief efforts for flood victims, according to the Times-Picayune.
