Hotel security chief says he saw Aaron Hernandez outside hotel but didn't think he had gun

Published May 03, 2016

Associated Press

A security chief at a Boston hotel testifying in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial says a valet told him two nights before the killing that Hernandez might have a gun in his waistband, but he determined the former NFL player wasn't a threat.

Hernandez was out with Odin Lloyd, who was shot to death two days later.

Jeffrey Keane testified Wednesday that he saw Hernandez hanging out outside the hotel and watched him for about five minutes. Keane says Hernandez wasn't talking to anyone and had his hands in his front sweatshirt pocket.

Keane says he didn't think Hernandez could have hidden a gun under such tight-fitting clothing and decided he didn't pose a threat.

He says he called police a few days later after media reports about Lloyd's death.
