Gulf Resources posts 1Q profit

SHOUGUANG, China (AP) _ Gulf Resources Inc. (GURE) on Friday reported first-quarter earnings of $8.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Shouguang, China-based company said it had profit of 17 cents.

The specialty chemicals company posted revenue of $32.8 million in the period.

In the final minutes of trading on Friday, the company's shares hit $1.91. A year ago, they were trading at $1.43.
