Funeral held for reporter killed in southeast Washington while going home from an assignment

A funeral service has been held for a reporter who was killed by gunfire while going home after an assignment in the District of Columbia.

Television station WUSA-TV (http://on.wusa9.com/1KMrdvO ) reports funeral services were held Saturday at the Living Word Church in southeast Washington for 27-year-old Charnice Milton.

Police have said that Milton was shot and killed by a gunman on a dirt bike who was apparently trying to shoot someone else.

Milton, who worked at Capital Community News, died at a local hospital. The newspaper has said Milton was returning from covering a community meeting when she was shot.
