Florida Deputies: Man Beat Girlfriend to Death

TAMPA, Fla. -- A Tampa man is accused of beating his girlfriend during a fight over bills, then loading her lifeless body in his truck and driving her to his mother's house.

Officials say 23-year-old Nakysha Hamilton died Wednesday after she was choked and beaten by 28-year-old Leon Stevenson Jr. He is being held without bond in the Hillsborough County Jail on a second-degree murder charged.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Stevenson admitted to grabbing his girlfriend by the neck and slamming her to the floor Wednesday morning. He says he gave her a shower and put her to bed. When he woke up at 8 a.m., Hamilton wasn't moving. That's when he took her to his mother's house.

His mother told deputies she attempted CPR and called paramedics.
