Ferguson protesters block traffic near police station for second straight night; 3 arrests

Three people face charges after another night of protests in Ferguson.

The grand jury decision on whether to indict Officer Darren Wilson is expected soon, and protest activity is picking up. Wilson fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown on Aug. 9, spurring unrest in and around the St. Louis suburb.

Demonstrators gathered along South Florissant Road at Ferguson police headquarters Thursday night. St. Louis County Police spokesman Brian Schellman says police told the crowd to disperse when protesters blocked traffic, and those who refused were arrested.

One suspect, 25-year-old Moustapha Diop of St. Louis, is accused of pushing an officer. Schellman says the officer used pepper spray on Diop, who is charged with assault on law enforcement, unlawful assembly, resisting arrest and for being a fugitive. Diop doesn't have a lawyer.
