Feds reviewing 'no-knock' drug raid in Georgia that left toddler injured by flash grenade

A Georgia grand jury concluded that the investigation leading to a drug raid in which a toddler was injured by a flash grenade was "sloppy" but did not recommend any criminal charges.

The Habersham County grand jury released a 15-page report detailing its findings Monday.

U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said Tuesday in an emailed statement that federal authorities continue to investigate.

The family's lawyer, Mawuli Davis, said he hopes the U.S. attorney brings charges.

During the raid on the northeast Georgia home in May, a flash grenade detonated in 19-month-old Bounkham "Bou Bou" Phonesavanh's playpen. Family spokesman Marcus Coleman says the toddler had his face and chest blown open and suffered burns in the raid.

The Phonesavanh family released a statement saying it was "devastated" no charges were recommended.
