Feds: 2 men traveled to Philippines for murder-for-hire plot

Published May 03, 2016

Associated Press

Prosecutors say two North Carolina men traveled to the Philippines to kill a woman as part of a murder-for-hire scheme, allegedly shooting her in the face and dumping her body on a pile of trash.

Adam Samia and Carl David Stillwell were charged in an indictment unsealed Wednesday in federal court in New York City and arrested in Roxboro, North Carolina. They were scheduled to make an initial court appearance in North Carolina on Thursday. It was not immediately clear who will represent them in court.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara says the men traveled in early 2012 as hired guns from North Carolina to the Philippines before shooting their victim several times.

Prosecutors say Samia advertised himself as a "personal protection/security industry" professional.
