Published May 03, 2016

Associated Press

Police in Olympia, Washington, say a father and son who returned to their apartment to find the front door broken and their belongings in disarray swung into action when they walked in and ran into the intruder.

KOMO-TV reports (http://is.gd/uhNocd) that police say John Ashton Sr. and his son John Ashton Jr. tackled the man Friday while shouting for neighbors to call 911. The residents were finally able to tie up the man's legs with a sweater and shoelaces and tie his hands behind his back until officers arrived. The Ashtons say the intruder apologized and pleaded with them not to call police.

The 37-year-old arrested man was booked into the Thurston County jail for investigation of burglary. Investigators say they found some of the Ashtons' belongings in the building's laundry room.
