Father of Border Patrol agent surrenders in Calif

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

The FBI says the father of a U.S. Border Patrol agent charged with harboring illegal immigrants has turned himself in to federal authorities in San Diego.

FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth tells the San Diego Union-Tribune that Marcos Manzano Sr. was taken into custody Sunday after surrendering near the Border Patrol station in San Ysidro.

His son, Marcos Manzano Jr., was arrested earlier this month at the Imperial Beach Border Patrol station where he worked. He's charged with harboring illegal immigrants, including his father, and for making false statements.

Prosecutors have said the father had been living at his son's home illegally for at least a year and had been deported after a conviction for possession of marijuana.
