Ex-soldier charged in Ohio shooting held on bond

A former soldier convicted of beating up a homeless man is being held in jail on $550,000 bond on charges related to a woman's shooting death in suburban Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that 25-year-old Riley Feller was arraigned Saturday morning on reckless homicide and weapons charges in the death of Janice Svajda. Norwood police say Thursday's shooting appears to have been accidental.

Feller is a former soldier from Union, Ky., who pleaded no contest last year to felonious assault. He and three other men were accused of beating a homeless man who'd been sleeping under a bridge.

Army officials have said Feller was discharged from the Army last year but have declined to give a reason.

Feller's attorney has not returned calls for comment.
