Ex-New England Patriot Hernandez's girlfriend scheduled for court appearance on perjury charge

The girlfriend of Aaron Hernandez has another scheduled court appearance after being charged with perjury in connection with the murder case against the former New England Patriot.

A hearing for Shayanna Jenkins is set for Wednesday afternoon in Fall River Superior Court. She pleaded not guilty last month and was released on personal recognizance.

Prosecutors allege Jenkins lied to the grand jury that indicted Hernandez, including about disposing of evidence at his request. They say she told grand jurors she couldn't remember where she threw out a box she placed in a trash bag along with baby clothes.

Jenkins' attorney Janice Bassil says prosecutors are being heavy-handed and have no evidence her client lied.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the killing of Odin Lloyd.
