Dog found 4 months after deadly California wildfire

Published January 14, 2016

Associated Press

A dog that escaped a massive Northern California wildfire has been reunited with its owner more than four months after the blaze tore through its home.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1TWAd6d) Wednesday that Darci Andrews and Bernie Hosmer lost their Hidden Valley Lake home and nearly all their possessions in the Valley Fire in September.

Two other dogs, two cats and two rats were also in their home when it was razed by the deadly fire that charred 118 square miles and destroyed 1,200 homes.

But Tia, a husky and pit bull mix, somehow escaped. Last week, a man, responding to lost dog posters, called to say he found Tia.

The man told Andrews he had first spotted Tia about a month ago. He started leaving food out for her and over time lured her with dog biscuits.
