Defense in Ore. bomb plot seek FBI training info

Lawyers for a man accused of trying to detonate a bomb at a Portland holiday tree-lighting ceremony have asked the FBI to disclose how it trains agents for undercover stings.

The Oregonian reports that Mohamed Mohamud's lawyers on Monday requested any materials "regarding the issue of entrapment," adding that serious questions exist about their client's "vulnerability, predisposition and inducement."

Mohamud has pleaded not guilty to attempting to ignite a weapon of mass destruction at the Nov. 26 holiday tree-lighting ceremony. The FBI says he was arrested in a sting and there was never a real explosive device.

The request suggests the defense plans to argue that the FBI tried to steer their client into a crime.

Prosecutors have until April 7 to respond.
