Court: Pleas properly entered in Wisconsin fatal fire case

A Wisconsin appeals court has rejected arguments from a man convicted of setting a fatal house fire that his statements should have been suppressed and his guilty pleas withdrawn.

Armin Wand III was sentenced to life in connection with the 2012 LaFayette County fire that killed his three sons, left his wife severely burned and killed their unborn daughter. He argued on appeal that state agents coerced statements from him and he should be allowed to withdraw his pleas based on a psychologist report that he says casts doubt on whether he made the statements voluntarily.

The 4th District Court of Appeals ruled Thursday that Wand's arguments were undeveloped and the report doesn't qualify as newly discovered evidence that would warrant plea withdrawals.

Wand's attorney didn't immediately return a message.
