CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Authorities say a Texas man riding in a car with three women shot and killed each of them, fled on foot after the vehicle smashed into a pole and was caught after a bystander chased and tackled him.
Jacob Gonzalez remained jailed Friday in Nueces County on three counts of capital murder. The 21-year-old allegedly opened fire inside the car Wednesday night while riding with the women on a Corpus Christi road.
Corpus Christi police spokeswoman Julia Hernandez-Garcia described the shooting as a "domestic violence situation." She said at least one of the women in the car appeared to have dated Gonzalez.
Gonzalez's attorney, Mark Woerner, said Friday he planned to file a motion to have his client evaluated for mental competency.
