Coast Guard airlifts 2 from cruise ship off Virginia coast

The Coast Guard flew two cruise ship passengers by helicopter from off the Virginia Coast.

News outlets report that early Sunday, the Sector Hampton Roads Command Center in Portsmouth was notified that two men experienced "medical complications" while on the Norwegian Gem cruise ship about 75 miles northeast of Cape Henry.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and a C-130 Hercules aircraft crew launched shortly before 4 a.m. from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Both men were hoisted on board the helicopter shortly after 5 a.m.

The men were flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk for treatment.
