Civil trial pits former university vice president against 3 men lodging sex abuse claims

A civil trial in northeastern Pennsylvania pits a former state university administrator against three men who say he sexually harassed and assaulted them while they were students.

Opening statements are scheduled for Monday afternoon in Scranton federal court.

The defendant, Isaac Sanders, was fired from East Stroudsburg University six years ago following an investigation by the agency that oversees state-owned universities. He has consistently denied wrongdoing.

Now in their 20s and early 30s, the three accusers call him a predator who used his position of power and influence to victimize them.

One former student alleges Sanders forced him into oral sex, while other plaintiffs claimed he groped their genitals, engaged in other kinds of unwanted touching and made inappropriate sexual comments.

An eight-person jury was picked Monday morning.
