Charges dropped against motorcycle club president

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

Criminal charges have been dropped against the international president of the Vagos (VAH'-gohs) motorcycle club.

The Sun of San Bernardino reports (http://bit.ly/xnjuX6 ) that prosecutors announced during a court hearing Tuesday that the charges against Pastor Palafox had been dismissed. They wouldn't say why, citing an ongoing investigation. But a defense attorney says prosecutors lacked probable cause to pursue a case.

Palafox had been charged with vehicle theft involving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, possession of the stolen motorcycle and street terrorism.

He was one of several arrested during an 18-month, seven-county sweep against the Vagos club last year. Authorities say drugs and hundreds of weapons, including a rocket launcher, were seized during the operation.

Two co-defendants in the case still face charges and are scheduled to return to court Feb. 14.
