Chance of rain is hope for fighting North Carolina fires

Firefighters in North Carolina hope rain this weekend will help with three wildfires that have burned nearly 17,000 acres.
The National Weather Service says there's a chance of rain across the state Friday and along the coast Saturday.
A fire in northeastern part of the state has burned about 14,000 acres in Hyde and Dare counties. Officials are still trying to determine how the fire started Monday in the 150,000 acre Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge.
About 30 miles of U.S. 264 was still closed by the blaze. An air quality advisory continues in effect.
A fire in Brunswick County near Wilmington has burned about 1,600 acres.
A blaze near the North Carolina-Tennessee state line has burned nearly 1,100 acres.
No serious injuries have been reported.
