California Highway Patrol officer accused of stealing suspects' nude photos pleads not guilty

Published January 08, 2015

A former California Highway Patrol officer has pleaded not guilty to computer theft charges stemming from allegations he stole explicit photos from the cellphones of female DUI suspects.

The San Jose Mercury News reports (http://bit.ly/1BrEw4r ) 35-year-old Sean Harrington entered the plea Friday in a Contra Costa County courtroom.

The allegations surfaced after a 23-year-old San Ramon woman discovered nude photos of herself had been sent from her phone to an unfamiliar number. A 19-year-old woman arrested in a Livermore drunken driving crash also accused Harrington of stealing intimate photos from her phone.

Authorities say Harrington shared the photos with other officers.

Harrington's attorney previously issued a statement saying the former officer apologizes for his actions and is embarrassed.

Harrington resigned two days before the charges were filed.
